Teens, Half-Term and Lock-Down

I'm lucky enough to have some leave over half-term but I'm a bit stuck for ideas. They've both agreed to draw up a menu and cook a meal each. After that I'm stuck for ideas.

What's everyone else up to?

Same. You Tube / gaming and a sneaky visit to see cousins

If the cousins were nearer I think we might have risked a park visit but they are just too far away for anything less than a few hours visit Sad

Mainly I'll be enjoying not having to hassle mine about doing school work.
I'd imagine it will be gaming, cooking, board games, bike riding, films, walks. Same as every weekend!

Later daylight than now offers opportunities for varying the time certain activities are done, especially late afternoons.

@Popfan I liked your list of things to do with teenagers- mine is 12.5 but I feel I've lost all my energy in this recent lockdown and he ends up only being on screens (mostly!). I wanted to not put pressure on him as he's stuck at home with mum & dad and it's hard but at the same time it's now gone to the other extreme where he's basically doing nothing!

Any ideas how to motivate them? what have you found works?

I do take my son on weekends for a few walks around block or in park with a friend, I wait in car and they walk around for an hour or so

There was a thread in Chat yesterday- Fun things can order for my family or similar and some of that was teen-friendly.
Mine is planning on doing the whole Walking Dead box set (again)...

@stilllovingmysleep it is hard and there are definitely times when my DS 13 spends far too long on the ps4. We certainly don't do all those things on that list all the times. We do try and get out of the house for some exercise both days at the weekend. We do geocaching which adds a bit of interest and have done some nice walks using this. It is harder when the weather is rubbish and I do find I have to apply a bit of pressure about coming off screens which does cause some moaning - usually though once he gets going with whatever we are doing he enjoys it.
I just think they do still like spending time with us really! We sometimes plan it before the weekend so it's all agreed rather than just springing it on him which doesn't always go down as well!
