Bras - help

DD has outgrown her's.

She won't let me measure her (and I'm not really sure how to anyway) but we need new ones. Obviously we can't get her measured because of bl**dy covid restrictions, she can't try them on and I'm not sure what on earth to do.

The only thing I can think is to go out buy a variety and return the ones that don't fit but I'm not sure shops take underwear back and they're not exactly cheap.

Any ideas welcome please?

I get my teens in primary. They do return as long as you keep the receipt. Not worth paying a lot they grow so quick. If she won’t go with you to choose just get a selection of sizes and bring home. Once you know her size you can then return the others and buy more of the right size

Primark that should be !

Can she measure herself? Or let you measure her over the top of a t shirt/pyjama top?

If you measure underneath her bust that gives you her band size. If it's an odd number eg 31" you will need to go down to 30 or up to 32.

Then whatever the difference is between underbust and overbust determines her cup size

eg 30 under and 32 over is 30B. Then you can try a cup size either way up or down if it doesn;t quite fit right.

You can measure the under bust measurement through a T-shirt, if the problem is that she doesn’t want to be topless in front of you? Then guess the cup size based on how tight the current bra cup is. I had to do this for my DD in lockdown and as it was her first bra, completely guess the cup size 🤦🏼‍♀️ It worked out fine, I got her 2 lovely M&S bras.

We have ordered in a load from Debenhams before and then just send back the "nos". Their website seems to be up and running as usual. Found Debenhams have a much broader range for my DD than M&S. But she does have a tricky size to cater for.

We found John Lewis really good too especially for the elusive 28C size!

Thanks everyone.

I've told her how and she's decided to measure herself and order from the internet. I've given her a budget and she's off to have a look.

She said "mum you cant even measure up properly for a blind you're not coming anywhere near me with a tape measure" (actually it's true about the blind Blush )

Boob or bust are great for an accurate measurement. Four steps so it's a bit more involved that the usual, but I was an awkward size and found them to be spot on. I'd been guessing before and was fit to cry, as all three of the sizes I thought I might be were wrong.

I was small in the body and big in the bust. I was 32DD, turned out I'd gone up to 30F. I never would have hit on that size by guesswork.

Branleuse · 28/10/2020 12:16

is it the cups or the band that she has grown out of? Could you not just get her the next few sizes up to see what fits

Einszwei · 28/10/2020 12:18

I second boob or bust...I had been wearing a C....turns out I am 30F.

Can you just leave her to measure herself with a tape measure? There is no need for you to measure for her...its very simple
