My son is 11 and already becoming hormonal and moody - any recommendations of good books for parenting preteens/teens?

I read a couple of teen books but wouldn't suggest them for an 11 year old as they recommend fostering a level of automony an 11 year old is not ready for, introducing that too early will introduce subsequent phases too early too. Treat them as an 11 year old, not a teen.

I know that. 😁 I would like to be prepared for teen years though, hence asking for recommendations for books.

@NeutralJanet thank you! I’ve just been reading the reviews of that one actually and it looks great - will order. 😊

I did find this book useful (Get out of my life...). Especially the imaginary scenarios between parents and teens. From several books I read, these two were particularly useful: J.Duffy’Parenting the new teen in the age of anxiety’ and Josh Shipp’s ‘The grown ups’ guide to teenage humans’. Both are by american authors. I wonder if anyone read any good british parenting books? It would be interesting to know.

As for ‘ wouldn't suggest them for an 11 year old as they recommend fostering a level of autonomy...’, I disagree. I have a 13 year old and I wish I’d read a lot of it before she was even 7, let alone 11. Surely you will be able to filter how to apply this information to parenting your 11 year old, but being informed before it is too late is crucial.
