This is from a few days ago and might help. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/4040478-how-much-allowance-does-your-16-yr-old-get

thymestables · 05/10/2020 16:34

£50/month plus SIM only contract for phone, the phone itself was a birthday present
I buy basic toiletries etc with the supermarket shopping
Both babysit regularly for things they need extra for

I had Saturday school which nixed a Saturday job back in the day.

DM made me put together a spreadsheet of everything I spent in the year then went through it with me to spot what I’d missed (tights for school, haircuts were the two that come to mind). She then divided by 12 and I got a monthly allowance (contingent on getting a summer job). Brilliant for learning to budget. I did NOT like being down to less than £10 and having to get cash out in branch!

My 15YO gets £10/week. He gets another £5/week for coaching little kids in the sport he does.

SBTLove · 05/10/2020 16:41

DD15 gets £15pw and I pay phone, nails, clothes etc

I think I’m tight. Dd1 almost 16 gets £25 per month.

She’ll be 16 soon and I’m going to encourage her to get a Saturday job as I think the independence will do her good.

When I was in y11 I worked 3 evenings a week. She has a lot of extra curricular activities which she is committed to, but these are her choice (and cost me a fortune) so if she wants more cash, she’ll have to get a job.
