do you think £2.50/hr is reasonable to pay a babysitter

becasue my dd thinks it's a bit cheap.

she normally gets between £3.50-£5.00/hr

She's nearly 16 and has done firstaid and babysitting course.

This is for babysitting early evening, child awake.

Would you think it cheeky if she told them she actually charges £3.50?

To be honest, I do think that is a stingy. I pay mine £5 an hour, which IMO is a bargain

Ggirl - given what she does (dinner and music practice), £2.50 an hour is way too low.
She should get at least double that - they're taking the p*

I pay dd £2.50 an hour so am definately not showing her this thread!! But then she is here anyway and it helps us both

But if she babysat for someone else I would expect her to be paid £3.50 or so an hour as she has to get there/it's unfamiliar/ she cant tell other people's kids off like she can her brothers etc.

She is 14 btw

£2.50 is a piss take surely?

myalias · 07/10/2007 15:31

20 odd years ago and I used to get £10 for 3 hours of babysitting and a paid taxi home. Deffo taking the piss!

DS gets £6 but he has to teach music while he's doing it.
