So, yet another argument with ds14 about what time he needs to be home. It's school tomorrow, I've said be home 7-7.30 for dinner and to get organised for school. Oh, and maybe to spend a couple of hours of bank holiday Monday with his family. Reasonable, I thought. It seems not.

"It's the last day of the holidays" (already been back to school Thurs and Fri)

"I came home early last night AND Saturday" (last night because some were going to a sleepover and he had his paper round to do this morning so couldn't stay over, Saturday because we were at family friends for dinner, including one of his best friends. Conveniently forgets that he was out until 9 on Friday and has been out late on numerous occasions over the summer)

"I don't see the difference that it's a school night, if I come home at 9 I'll still get
my bag ready and go to bed at the same time"

And of course "EVERYONE else will be staying out"

just ONCE it would be so nice to have an "OK mum see you later" and some kind of willingness to actually participate in family life. Bloody fed up of it.

...and breathe...

Anyone else? And was it a reasonable request? I'm constantly doubting every decision because I'm told that I'm wrong so often.

I don't think YABU. But my DS is currently not speaking to me as I told him off for being rude. So not sure that I'm the best judge!

Yes very reasonable.
Wait to he is 16-17
They get worse when parties start.
I know that's not helpful but they will only be going out at 7 then.
