Insurance for a learner driver

user1471543683 · 27/08/2020 20:36

Looking to find out the best and cheapest way to insure my DS who is learning to drive. I would like to take him out to practise in my own car. Do I have to add him to my own insurance or can we take out insurance for a learner with an independent company? Any tips appreciated Thanks

Try marmalade they do short term policies for a learner driver. Or you can add them on to your insurance.

I've used marmalade, too.

We added dd to our insurance - £300 for 9 months. But if she passes her test I expect that will be increased significantly.

I’ve been looking at Covered on Demand, it’s like pay as you go cover and means my no claims bonus is not at risk.
All academic for me at the moment as ds provisional licence remain buried in the DVLA Covid backlog!

We’ve been using veygo (part of admiral) for a couple of days at a time, so paid £18 for three days cover for the bank holiday weekend just gone. Sits on top of the cars normal insurance so no claims would be unaffected if the learner does any damage.

Try Veygo pretty reasonable
