Exhausted teen

Just wondering whether I need to take DD to the docs or whether this is normal. Every couple of weeks, DD complains of feeling absolutely exhausted. She will go from being fine to being so so tired and quiet. We've talked about it and she said it literally feels like her strings just go and she's suddenly shattered and exhausted and very slightly dizzy 🤔

She's about due to start her period, so I've asked her to keep a diary to see if it is hormone related, but it happened about 12 days ago so was in between her periods the last time it happened.

She bounces back and by tomorrow or the day after she will be fine again, and she was fine earlier this morning but now feels very lethargic after feeling fine all morning and not doing anything particularly energetic 🤷🏻‍♀️

By the time I could get her an appointment at the docs, she'll be feeling much better again 🤔

It’s probably worth continuing to keep a hormone diary- daily notes and try and include things like foods. She could be low in iron or magnesium. I take spatone with Apple liquid iron sachets, they’re safe for everyday use. It could still be hormone related and you can feel different to each stage of the cycle. Things like eating certain foods during certain parts of the cycle can have an affect too. Often a doctor would advise what you’ve said anyway and may offer blood test. It’s always best to go armed with as much info as possible.

Sounds like she has got low iron - I would get an iron tonic such as feroglobin or Floradix. You can get them from Holland and Barrett, Amazon or big supermarkets like sainsburys

I get an overwhelming tiredness that's related to my hormones. I literally cannot stay awake but a 20 minute deep sleep revives me. I feel like I've had a whole night and it's almost like I pass out as I cannot fight it.

If she has a iPhone there's a health app and you can track your periods. You can also track symptoms throughout the month including tiredness.
