It’s the first time it happened. She vomited and now she is asleep in recovery position. Is there anything I can do ?? I’m scared to go to sleep in case of she chokes on her own vomit :(

The only time ds has been picked up at a party drunk (thankfully it has put him off doing it again so far), he vomited twice, needed warmed up, I got him to drink water then he slept in my bed with me and a basin beside him.

When it was clear he was warm enough, breathing ok, had stopped being sick, was sleeping ok I went to sleep too.

He didn't even have a hangover in the morning!

pinkcattydude · 01/08/2020 00:16

She’s in the recovery position, that’s pretty much all you do. Sleep and prepare yourself for tomorrow.

Anordinarymum · 01/08/2020 01:38

And don't look to blame the friend. Sometimes your children are far from perfect. Hope she is ok

CrazyToast · 01/08/2020 02:10

It's pretty normal at 17. I was 14 when me and 5 friends first got horribly horribly drunk. At 17, college age, my group of friends would drink every Friday night at someone's house and the parent would buy the booze. She preferred us drinking safely in the house I guess. I really wouldnt worry. However you can pretend your're disappointed but dont go too hard on her in case she rebels or tries to hide stuff from you in the future.

lljkk · 01/08/2020 09:09

When DD got to point of vomiting clear fluid I reckoned there was nothing left to choke on.

I was horrible & left DD alone all day to deal with hangover from hell (we did chat by phone, I was at work). I wish I could say it NEVER happened again, but it's never been as bad. A difficult lesson well learnt.

ikus84 · 01/08/2020 09:52

Ah I remember those days. I'd wake up in recovery position and my mum had put a towel under me and a bucket next to my head.

God I don't miss being a teenager.

Italianmoma1983 · 01/08/2020 10:55

I’m not blaming the friend ! Dd is ok ! It was the first time she drunk alcohol and yesterday she had 1 gin mixed with coke and that did the work ! She is no hurry to drink again

MrBloomsLeftVeg · 01/08/2020 10:59

A bottle of gin mixed with coke? I don't think one would induce vomiting?

MorningManiacMusic · 01/08/2020 11:02

Aw bless you.
It wasn't the first time she drank alcohol and it wasn't just one gin. Grin

SoupDragon · 01/08/2020 11:04

Yeah... that wasn't one single gin.

Hopefully she"s learnt a valuable lesson from this though! I've shepherded 2 through the teen years and I think they've managed to emerge at the other end with a fairly sensible attitude to alcohol.

SteelyPanther · 01/08/2020 11:22

It must have been a very big gin to get her in that state !
We’ve all been there.
The worry is when they go off to Uni and you know this happens, but you’re not there to make sure they’re ok.

flibbertmygibbert · 01/08/2020 11:31

1 bottle of gin perhaps!

WeAllHaveWings · 01/08/2020 12:41

1 gin and coke, she was drunk and vomiting and you believe that?

Italianmoma1983 · 01/08/2020 21:18

It must have been a massive gin I give you that - she got drunk fast as she hadn’t eaten

OP posts:
SaddestDay · 01/08/2020 21:21

Haha bless her. We've all been there.

Glad she's ok today. A lesson learnt (for now Wink)

BooFuckingHoo2 · 01/08/2020 21:21

Definitely not one gin and definitely not the first time she’s tried alcohol Grin

backseatcookers · 01/08/2020 22:31

One gin and coke Grin

Staywithmemyblood · 02/08/2020 00:20

To be fair, I think I might be sick if I drank even one gin and coke. Not drunk, just sick. It sounds vile! 🤢 Both are lovely separately, but not a good pairing. Rookie mistake. Maybe suggest some nicer combinations for future 😉 🍸🍹Hope she is feeling better now

Aquamarine1029 · 02/08/2020 00:24

Hahaaa. She did not have just one gin! Half a bottle more likely.

sukiginger · 02/08/2020 12:02

Haha one gin Grin. Did she fuck.

ACatWhoBinds · 07/08/2020 19:44

Haha, that must’ve been one big gin! When I was 17 at a friend’s party, I had one vodka and lemonade. I hadn’t properly drunk before though so filled a pint glass about half full with vodka and topped it up with lemonade. It was vile and I was rat-arsed! Mum wasn’t too pleased when she picked me up Grin she’ll learn her limits at some point! And no doubt it’s not her first time drinking, just walked it off last time!

LynetteScavo · 09/08/2020 08:58

I think you need to teach her about measures (buy a spirit measure). Gin and coke? What was she thinking?! Actually I know what she was thinking, and I doubt she'll drink such a gross concoction again.

How is she this morning?

Extracurricularfatigue · 09/08/2020 09:03

I didn’t drink till I was 17 so I don’t think anyone should tell you that’s a lie. Kids drink less now than when I was younger.

And I ended up in A&E after a party where some ‘friends’ thought it would be hilarious to give me a rum and coke which was almost entirely Bacardi with a touch of coke in a tall glass. I was too inexperienced to know how very strong it was compared to normal and vomited so much I ended up in hospital. One drink can be all it takes! I’m still sick if I drink rum.

I'm glad my mother raised me with strong morals. I'm about to graduate uni and still haven't touched any alcohol. Hopefully this will be a reminder if she ever gets the opportunity to drink in the future.

Even Jesus drank alcohol, morals doesn't come into it. You sound horrible
