Leaving dirty plates / cups

Notfeelinggreattoday · 07/07/2020 01:03

Just been in my sons bedroom and removed cups , one had what looked like dry milk in bottom , where hes obviously drunk it but residue left and dried
We had to have a no food upstairs rule As he kept leaving his plates up , would it be unreasonable to have no drinks - or water only
He is normally good at bringing cups down and i didnt notice any yesterday but it appears this one has been behind curtain for about a week
Not even sure of i can get it clean as plastic , currently soaking in hot water and washing up liquid
He moans that i tell him to keep it clean and he says all his friends can eat ans keep their rooms in a mess
I dont expect immaculate but dont think leaving dirty cups is ok as god knows what bacteria could grow etc

Your house, your rules.

We have a no food & drink rule upstairs as DSC can’t be bothered tidying up after themselves downstairs so they don’t get the luxury of having a slave clearing up after them upstairs.

It's up to you. Personally, I leave it be but when I'm putting the dishwasher on send them up to bring down anything from their rooms.

Just tell him to being his cups down. I wouldn't make a big deal out of one forgotten cup.

Ds gets a non nagging type text every few days.
Kettle on ds, please bring all your dishes down..
At 16 if he wants to sleep in a penicillin lab I don't care!

You’ve said he’s normally good, I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s just a cup, we all miss things sometimes.
