My 14 y o is still in lockdown - since school closed he has barely left the house. To be fair he was like this before COVID too but I am now urging him to go out every day. He just won't do it except once a week. It seems so unhealthy but it's turned into a battle of wills, he doesn't want to run or cycle or just walk round the park, does anyone have any similar experiences, advice or reassurance?

I'm with you. My ds12 hasn't left the house either. He will go out on the trampoline a couple of times a week if his sister begs him, but that's it, no bike rides, walks etc. He has got asd and PDA so we can only push it so far.....

My DS15 has turned into a vampire sloth who sleeps all day and stays up all night. Apparently him and his friends will melt if they go outside and see each other in real life rather then on Face Time. Thank god they are back at school next week.

Yes sort of! I've laid down a few ground rules with my 13 year old DS.

He has to be in bed and settled for sleep at 10.30pm which he's now happy with after some mild resistance. He has to do his homework each morning and submit it. And he has to come for one walk a day and we do a 4K loop which takes us 45 mins

Apart from that, his time is his own and I don't think my 'rules' are too onerous. He's in the routine now so all is fine but I think it's really important that they keep regular bed times and get out at least once a day even for a walk
