My 12 years old DD is suffering with face, neck, chest & back is all covered with pimples/white heads.

She's used Boots owns fragrance free face wash & Simple body wash.

Any advice would be so helpful

We tried many different things for my son who had just the same, but nothing made a difference to be honest. Best thing was washing every morning and night and clean hair/pillowcases regularly. I think that helped. after about 9 months and him getting really self conscious we went to the doctor and got low level long term antibiotics, which have worked really well, his skin is do much clearer now. So if you get nowhere, try that!

@kwackerly thank you so much!
I'm just so glad she's not in school, she's been wearing hoodie's in this warm weather.
Glad your son is doing better, how old is he?

My DD is 11 and has quite bad acne on her face and shoulders. Mario Badescu drying lotion is helping.

Kaathesnake · 10/06/2020 01:11

Try the Clearasil range, my Ds had back acne, and this worked well. There’s a wash, lotion cream and pads. They shift the redness and dry out the spots. HTH x

OneJump · 10/06/2020 01:11

We've had some success with acnecide, his skin had cleared quite well. It did seem to be a bit harsh on his skin though, so he stopped using it and they came back.

Kaathesnake · 10/06/2020 01:14

Encourage her to get some sun on them, it also helps to dry them out.

Kwackerly · 10/06/2020 06:01

Littlek my son was just 12 when the spots started. Hoodies were worn everyday here too! He got the antibiotics at 12, that's the youngest they give them. the doctor was really sympathetic and it took 3 months for his skin to gradually clear. I am so glad we took him to the doctor because he is much happier now. I took them too when I was young and I remember wishing I'd started sooner so I didn't wait too long. Teenagers are so self conscious, it's a tough time to have spots! Glad she's off school so you can try a few things Smile

Take her to the GP

WowLucky · 10/06/2020 09:05

Sun and cutting out refined sugar makes a big difference for my DS and did for me as a teen.

He thinks the Neutrogena Grapefruit face wash, which he uses on his back and chest in the shower too, helps.

If it's real acne rather than pimples only the GP can help.

Kaathesnake · 10/06/2020 10:09

@WowLucky
Neutrogena also do grapefruit face wipes which are good, too.

Thank you so much for advice - Plenty of water, better diet, Clearasil gentle face wash & wipe/pads for 3 weeks if that doesn't help, I'll see the GP & some sun hopefully at will make an appearance again soon!

Thanks again x

Check out the neutrogena range that contains sayliac acid which mmy DD uses she also likes Paula's choice face wash.
Boots do a back spray which is good. Will try and find the name.

gutentag1 · 11/06/2020 23:53

Take her to the GP, the pill should help. It's usually a hormonal issue for girls.

QualityFeet · 11/06/2020 23:59

Dermatica are online dermatologists who prescribe treatments. It’s about £25 month and Yahtzee includes usual treatments - i signed up my daughter and the change has been amazing

NewAccountForCorona · 12/06/2020 00:13

Go to the gp.

If it's spots, some of the suggestions will help. If it's acne, no amount of cleansing will make any difference at all. The gp will be able to assess it, and if necessary refer to a dermatologist for further investigation/treatment.

My son had severe acne from 11. Eventually a couple of courses of roaccutane cleared it up. Hopefully your dd won't need it (girls tend to be better off as they can go on the pill which helps).

Can she go on the pill if she hasn't started her periods yet? x
