"You have ruined my life" is this normal? Think hope teenage angst/hormones/lockdown but DD seems even madder with me than normal - and being pretty rude and spoilt!!

All a bit unusual!

The whole situation is all a bit unusual!!
She can’t get out and let off steam or vent to friends about how awful her life is. (I’m sure it isn’t. But all teens feel like that at some point normally!!)

Andi2020 · 28/05/2020 22:49

My 16 year old always goes on and on to get her way. I'm spoiling her fun if I don't give in. I'm the only parent does that.
Everyone else can do what they want.
Yes totally normal

AbsolutePleasure · 28/05/2020 23:11

What's she mad about?

IncrediblySadToo · 28/05/2020 23:13

Oh God, you didn't say hello to her did you?

peppersaunt · 29/05/2020 13:28

I had the nerve to repeat a story I had already told to her.

Lynda07 · 29/05/2020 13:30

For a 16 year old girl to say, "You have ruined my life!", is quite normal. I must have said that to my parents at least a million times.

Thx for all your replies - has out my mind at rest a bit! Feel like she's ignoring me and of course DH can do no wrong!

Lotty32 - i have a 15 year old DD who behaves very much like yours with some others things thrown in.
But maybe they are red herrings and my DD is more normal than I thought.
I was also feeling guilty as she was wanting to meet up with a friend just before lock down and I said no and explained the risk
was too great and because I have underlying health issues.
I think mine also blames me for my health issues and for the global pandemic.

Lotty32 · 29/05/2020 15:53

Lockdown Lucie my DS is convinced he is the only boy missing out on the cricket season!

Reply very calmly, "I'm sorry you feel that way", and then leave her be. Very common teenage angst! Parents are the worst.
