Are secondary school pupils of all yeargroups in England going back part time in September?

Really hope not my son is starting GCSEs and we cant teach them at home

Titsywoo · 26/05/2020 23:21

God knows. My eldest is currently half way through her gcse courses and already has lost so much proper learning time. If it's just part time in Sept i hope they start telling us what will happen with the exams next year. My youngest is in year 8 and has finally been doing well socially and academically (he is autistic). God knows how far this will set him back.

I suspected blended learning is the model they will take going forward. At university level, too. Much more online for many subjects than others.

That feels disastrous unless you have a very motivated teen. It's like getting blood out of stone supervising work at home and I never anticipated I'd be doing this FT with a 14 year old! It's true a lot of school time is not work but it's the social stuff I expected him to get from school - just in three months it feels like so much of that has evaporated :(

Was rather hoping it would be full timeShock

This is a big area of concern for me. My ds is 15 and year 10. He was fine the first month then he stopped all distant learning. I told the school anyway. I tried motivating him to no avail. It was actually made me sick which was why I stopped trying. He promises to get going again properly even if part time and I am more than willing to support but he is a lazy student to start with so I do worry. Luckily I work for myself at home which means I have flexibility but I do need to earn money. I am not super woman either.

It's getting ridiculous now
All the kids should go back for a bit in July and then everyome fulltime in September imo

Feellikedancingyeah · 31/05/2020 13:50

Well I desperately want ds back in school as he has shut down. Been no where for weeks
