My DD is 14. Has always had problems with anxiety, we usually keep on top of it, she sees CAHMS, school have lots of stuff in place for her and she manages ok.

Since school finished it has really got the better of her - huge, huge panic attacks at the thought of leaving the house, even getting her out of her bedroom is difficult

She’s so, so worried that people will see her out and judge her/post her on Facebook and it’s just become this massive, massive thing for her and her room is ‘safe’

She’s always been more anxious she doesn’t have a routine - so we’ve tried to keep a routine as close to normal as possible - we’re getting up, showered, having a go at the Joe Wicks PE thing on YouTube, some school work, lunch, more school work, cup of tea in the garden, etc, etc but some days just getting in the shower is too much for her

She has horses and going up the yard to do them is just beyond her at the moment. Horses have always been her safe haven and she’s always got a lot of comfort from being around them but she just can’t face leaving the house at the moment.

She’s not sleeping, barely eating

She was seeing CAHMS but they’re now closed, not offering telephone support or anything so we’re totally on our own and I’ve no idea where to go from here

Any ideas please? I’m so worried that we’re going to end up with full blown agoraphobia or something.

So sorry you're all going through this. I don't know an awful lot but would Young Minds be of any help?

Would this workbook be of any use too?

Thank you Flowers

It’s just so hard, I’ve no idea what to do for the best. Do I force her out of her room? Take it easy and let her take the lead? I just don’t know.

I’ll give Young Minds a call - thank you

I’ve ordered her a couple of workbooks as well

Thanks

Could you get a telephone appointment with the GP for her?
DD had a telephone appointment last week, and was prescribed fluoxetine. She has been on it before though, so it was more straightforward.

This is a horrible time for everyone, but especially so for teenagers.

Unfortunately I can’t get through to our GP. I’ve filled out an e-consultation but had no response as yet - they should have replied by 7pm on Friday and no one is picking up on the number given on the form

I’ve had an email from her mentor at school this morning and they’re going to see what they can find out for me

Thanks!
