Where are you? With cricket equipment generally I think you really need to physically try it to make sure it's right for you rather than buy 'blind' online. Sadly, decent cricket shops are almost extinct these days but there are a few around.

I've used Barrington Sports throughout my playing career and never had a problem: good range of stuff, very good prices, great customer service both online and in the now sadly closed physical shop in Knutsford. I've heard great things about Romida Cricket too but have never used them.

Avoid Sports Direct - they just don't do quality. And avoid cricketdirect.co.uk - how this company has not been closed down I do not know, and to judge from the Trustpilot reviews I don't think I was singled out to have my money taken for goods they opted out of sending.

If you're near an Asics store they do good cricket boots too.

Get the 15 yr old to ask their coach if there is somewhere local. Our nearest city doesn't have a good option but the market town 15 miles away does.

I also think you need to ask around to find a decent independent shop. We go to one about 45 mins drive away after wasting lots of time trying to buy helmets etc online. It's not the cheapest, but definitely with it.

Or you can see what a Sports Direct have in. You might get lucky, you might not.

At this time of year, DS just wears trainers to practice.
