Taller daughter

My DD is 14 Taller than me. She is 6'1 & I'm 5'8. What should I expect when my daughter is now 5 inches taller than me now.

Confused What should you expect? What does that even mean? What's to expect? You won't be sharing jeans or shoes, for one. Other than that I fail to see what the issue is.

Beamur · 16/10/2019 21:18

Expect teasing.

dementedpixie · 16/10/2019 21:19

You can see up her nose? She will rest her chin on your head?

Aquamarine1029 · 16/10/2019 21:20

@Beamur

How ridiculous. I'm 6' and my 20 year old daughter is 6'1. Neither one of us were ever teased about our height.

TrainspottingWelsh · 16/10/2019 21:23

Expect to be the short arse mum.

How is this even a question? Did you expect her to view your height as the optimal and stop growing?

Beamur · 16/10/2019 21:31

Aqua
I meant expect to be teased by your fabulously tall daughter.
My DD is counting on being taller than me so she can rib me about it.
I'm quite tall myself.

Nascar88 · 16/10/2019 21:51

Well now that she is taller she doesn't respect me. She doesn't listen to when I tell her to do something or to get off her phone

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 16/10/2019 21:52

How has that got anything to do with height?

Aquamarine1029 · 16/10/2019 21:54

None of which has anything to do with anyone's height. You need to be reevaluating your parenting.

OhMsBeliever · 16/10/2019 21:54

I'm not sure that's got anything to do with height. All my boys, except my youngest, are taller than me and have been for a while. They get off their phones when they're told, because they know there are consequences if they don't. And being taller than me isn't going to stop those consequences. I am the boss.

Nascar88 · 16/10/2019 22:00

When ever I tell her to do something she just tells me that she doesn't have to listen to me because she is tall than me

You're an adult, act like one. Do not tolerate her disrespect. If she chooses to act like a spoilt child, there will be major consequences.

GuessWhoColeen · 16/10/2019 22:06

Its not half term yet!

dementedpixie · 16/10/2019 22:16

It is in Scotland!

GuessWhoColeen · 16/10/2019 22:17

Ahh!

WaxOnFeckOff · 17/10/2019 00:06

Funnily enough my DSs are much bigger than me but still jump when I say jump. It's got nothing to do with size.

JustDanceAddict · 18/10/2019 08:12

Both my DCs are taller than me, and apart from being ‘little mum’, they do listen (in the usual teen way). It’s not a height thing, it’s a respect thing.
If your dd is saying that her being taller means she won’t respect you, remind her your her mother, puts food on table, supports her, etc. Doesn’t matter if you’re 5ft or 6ft.

AnyFucker · 18/10/2019 08:16

Sigh

AlexaShutUp · 18/10/2019 08:17

Clearly, this is about respect, not height.

Allinadaystwerk · 18/10/2019 08:49

I was taller than my dad by the time I was 16. Still had respect for him...Still do now he's 90! It has nothing to do with height! Hmm

Threads like this just baffle me, I mean obviously it's not real but what on earth is the OP getting out of it, I should just ignore but I'm genuinely perplexed 🤔
