DS 16 dropped out of A-Levels, no support

My DS is 16 and two weeks ago announced he was dropping out of sixth form. There was no way I could persuade him to continue and I had to write to school and formally withdraw him. He doesn't want to go to another school or college (although at this point I believe it would be difficult for him to pick up a new course as term started in early September) and wants to get a job. I know this has to be approved training/apprenticeship but struggling to find anything. Tried National Careers Service, local Family Support service, local college Apprenticeship team, visiting Apprenticeship fair, checking government apprenticeship website. There doesn't seem to be any help out there post 16 to look for training/work yet it's compulsory! Anyone know what happens if he doesn't find anything? I know I will have to let HMRC know so that the child benfit and tax credits will stop, but what next? Would love to hear if anyone in a similar position! Also he is depressed, moody and (I think) using weed...Sad

I would signpost you're dc but then expect them to get on.
Beware of them becoming lazy etc

Sorry just saw the end bit.
List of jobs, cooking cleaning etc.
If they're not done then the WiFi goes off.

As a temporary measure retailers are now hiring for the Christmas period.

He will be classed as NEET do should get help from the council look up council careers service .. where's he getting money to get weed from??
If you think that's involved you/he may have bigger problems

Your council website should have a section called young "area you live in" or something like that which has services available

The Prince's Trust? Volunteering in an area of interest?
