Should dd continue with college?

Dd is 18. She was away at boarding school for Sixth Form attending a school where she could do a BTEC in Performing Arts alongside A Levels. She had some mental health problems earlier this year and decided to drop down to just one A Level (and the BTEC).

This was enough to get her into her first choice university and she now has a place deferred until next year. She said she wasn't ready to go this year.

However she said she still wanted to get the other two A Levels even though she doesn't need them. Since September she has been at a Sixth Form college, admitted into Year 13, to complete the A Levels.

However - firstly the journey is a nightmare. Should take 1.5 hours each way but can sometimes take two. And secondly she doesn't particularly like the college and doesn't seem to be enjoying the work that much.

She (and I) are wondering if it's worth all the effort bearing in mind she has a guaranteed university place next year.

I'm not sure how to advise her - should she stick it out a bit longer say til Christmas? She knows if she left she would do something else - work and extra dance classes for example.

The other option is to retake the A Level she has already done (English). She got a C which she was disappointed with and is wondering if it might be better use of her time to retake for a better grade as preparation for university (her course is English Lit + Lang).

How many hours travelling are you driving her the 2 hours and 2 hours home again and then collecting her. Or is it public transport.

If she has already got her place what is the point in the other A levels get her to work for a year to earn money for uni next year.
She can do on line study in English to keep up with prep for Uni.

To be honest, I’d suggest to work and get some saving behind and then she can enjoy uni even more Smile

@mcmen05 it’s public transport, 2 buses. Sometimes dh or I help out taking her part way but we’re not always available.
