I think this site is such a Linus blanket, like 2 good big sisters, a friend whose done counseling, and has contacts/experience from DIY to life threatening dilemmas.

Mum's of teenagers very rarely come together. In a way being the Mum of a teenager is very isolating. The common link that most of us have is school/exams/college.Could mumsnet advertise on schol websites or in school handbooks?

oddjobgirl · 10/08/2007 18:15

Hi teenmum, are you mum of teenagers? or teenage mum?

I think a good time to 'net' these mums of teenagers is when they are about to leave Year 6 of primary school as it does suddenly become realisation that this could be the last time you share the special relationships you have made with your child's classmates parents, usually mum. No more morning and afternoon chats in the playground, play dates, coffee after dropping off at school in the morning; helping each other out in emergencies and school holidays. Your children may not even be moving on to the same school. And when that time arrives, you may suddenly remember you were given details or saw something about Mumsnet. An advertisement or article on website aimed specifically for parents of children at this transition period would be an excellent place to discover Mumsnet - I wish I had known about it then - I felt I had lost of fair chunk of my friendship group when my last child left primary school, at a time when I especially needed my friends

tigermoth · 13/08/2007 12:48

lotstodo, what a fantastic suggestion. You are so right, there is a gap at the end of year 6.

NadineBaggott · 13/08/2007 12:50

I'd like to see more grandmothers on here

SeamonstEr · 13/08/2007 12:50

possibly on the back of wine bottles, or chocolate boxes?

Hi oddjobgirl. I am the mum of two boys aged 15 and 8. I was a teen in the era of Donny Osmond and David Cassidy.
I might change my name to mumofteen if it hasn't already been taken.

oddjobgirl · 14/08/2007 08:30

Lots to do .... good idea. But what slogan should we suggest MN use? how about

"I am woman ... therefore I must speak " Shakespeare I think, or

"MN ... the best online agony aunt"

Do MN towers have any ideas or are you the elite few non-holiday staff?

elasticbandstand · 14/08/2007 08:41

? police stations?
bloody hope not.

elasticbandstand · 14/08/2007 08:42

does mn need to advertise?
does it need more mums?

MiserableTwat · 14/08/2007 08:59

I vote Custy as mother of teens spokesperson if MN is ever asked for one. Preferably giving Paxo a run for his money

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 14/08/2007 09:05

There could be a pop-op ad on Talk to Frank

'Talk to Custy' - you know it makes sense.

Otherwise the wine thing works for me - I have 3 teens and could happily hit the bottle every night.

elasticbandstand · 14/08/2007 09:13

i spose mothers of teenagers are at work.
cannot get on the pc in the evening.
cannot get a moment's peace in the evening, i am guessing, and are curled up in ball on said evenings! Gin
