DD1 has just done really really well in her French equivalent of GCSEs. I'd like to do something special/memorable with her.

She's the eldest of 4 so eating out somewhere posh would be v expensive and we do eat out a fair amount so not special.

DGP have just bought her a watch.

We live in France and she has a boyfriend but I don't want time with him to be the special thing.

We are over in the UK for a few weeks this summer so could do anything while there. Any ideas?

Congratulations...
Harry Potter world if she has not seen it already?

Wallywobbles · 10/07/2019 17:38

That's a good idea. It's Oxford right. We could definitely do that from where we will be.

It's not Oxford, it's Hertfordshire. It's really good as long as she likes HP.
You could also look at a tour of Angels, the film costumiers, that's in Hendon. London Dungeon? Madame Tussaud's which is surprisingly entertaining.

Thanks. I will give her some choices and see what grabs her. She is an avid follower of James Charles so maybe a make up lesson although I'm not a fan of a lot of makeup on teens. Ho hum.

Is 14 too young to see a band? Might be another idea. I was 16.

Actually i was probably younger - it was Take That!!

Clothes are quite a bit cheaper in the UK a chunk of money to go wild in primark with would have delighted my DD at 14. £30 goes a really long way in primark - very large bag of clothes.

lljkk · 12/07/2019 19:25

Will you do something equally nice for your younger DC if they only get mediocre results? How good results do they need to get to get equivalent or even better exam results treat?

I'm just saying be careful of the precedent you set.

Afternoon tea in posh hotel in London.

Wallywobbles · 14/07/2019 00:16

Yup. Everyone will get a treat for everything that's not a fail. 2 of our kids a v dyslexic so it's not an even playing field.

Thanks for suggestions. Tea at the ritz maybe!!

With children I would go to Fortnum and Masons rather than the Ritz.

Wallywobbles · 14/07/2019 06:11

Thanks I didn't know that was possible. Is it possible to book?

Maybe also look at Sketch in London for afternoon tea! It has been a big favourite with Dd and friends/ teens . Really interesting interior.

Davros · 14/07/2019 12:21

Afternoon tea is a good idea. There's that one on a double decker bus, don't know what it's like, or on the river

Wallywobbles · 14/07/2019 13:58

Thanks for the ideas. Will talk with her and see what she thinks.

She does love cake though. Much like her mum.

The afternoon tea on a bus (B's) is FANTASTIC. I was expecting it to be a bit naff but it's brilliant. And it goes round lots of tourist sights so a fun way to see London.

Highly recommend that.

Davros · 14/07/2019 16:39

Can I come if you do that? 👩‍🎓

Toomuch999 · 14/07/2019 16:46

Took my 13yo dd for tea at the Savoy for her special birthday, lovely but there are better value options!

Wallywobbles · 15/07/2019 04:05

I think no to the Savoy!!

OP posts:
Davros · 15/07/2019 17:25

I'm not coming then

Wallywobbles · 15/07/2019 21:56

But yes to the bus!!
