Dd took a beta blocker for anxiety then went out and drank alcohol, should I worry or tell her to do anything?

No, why would you?

avenueq · 28/04/2019 00:21

I just wasn't sure if beta blockers were safe with alcoholism

Alcoholism? You just said she went out and drank alcohol?

I've been on beta blockers for years, alcohol doesn't affect them.

avenueq · 28/04/2019 00:35

Oops sorry autocorrect
I just didn't know whether it's safe to drink alcohol with beta blockers - feel
reassured if you say it's fine

Ive always been fine and I'm hoping someone else will be along who takes beta blockers to help.

Obviously it's not advised as they lower your blood pressure and drinking alcohol can lower it further. Getting slaughtered isn't ideal whether on beta blockers or not but being sensible I wouldn't worry too much.

Just googled the leaflet and it said avoid alcohol 😩
Not sure I'll be able to sleep, what if something happens to her while she's sleeping?

I was on propranolol for years for anxiety and drank fairly regularly - I was a student!

One final bump

Everything says avoid alcohol. Honestly don't worry about it.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 28/04/2019 11:47

My DD was convinced she got pissed far more easily/quickly when taking propranolol .... but that may have just been an excuse when she came home in a state!!

I used to worry about this because it says on the packet, but it's more of a "better without" than "you're going to drop dead immediately".

What I do find, though, is that the gap between the second glass and hangover is much smaller, so I tend to drink less.
