13 year old dd/spray tan

My dd’s 13 going on 18. Very grown up, independent, already 5ft 7.
She’s been pestering me to let her have a spray tan as she’s naturally very pale. Personally I think she looks great the way she is; but of coarse I would say that! Do you think it’s too young??
Advice please!! Thanks

Mine has one when she was 10!

It was for her end of year leaving junior school Prom and she paid for it herself out of her own money as I had refused.

The shop was local and I did concede to going with her to book it but on the day she went by herself.

I was coming out of our house when she was coming back and I had a shock as she was sprayed with creosote by the looks of it! About 90 shades too dark and she looked comical. She did see the funny side of it, thankfully.

Even after showering it was still Ronseal Mahogany!

She’s in her 20s now and not had one since!

Personally I think you have to make sure you go to a really good spray tanner as it could turn out like my daughters!

I must admit even with adults, spray tans are usually too obvious and not subtle.

😂Thanks for the advice Fire!

How would she fund this spray tan? Since 11 my DD has had pocket money for non-essentials. A bottle of self tanning moisturiser is much cheaper.

Also my daughter didn’t heed my advice of prepping her skin in the few days beforehand.

She didn’t really have much hair in her legs but was using those gentle sandpaper type mits to keep her legs hair free but she wasn’t bothered about my telling her she needed to exfoliate a few days before and to moisturise every day so that the spray tan would wear evenly.

So when it wore off it wore off in patches.

I wouldn't let my 13yo.

She dies "borrow" my gradual tan though.

She plans on having a spray tan for her prom (she'll still be 15), but I'll let her have one before that to realise it's not necessarily the best look.

I had one once - I’m pale, I had the palest one done at home by a professional with all the prep. It looked ok but when I see photos Of the day did look a bit orangey. Your DD will have to be advised to get the palest as even then they’re not that pale!

Maurice169 · 22/04/2019 07:59

Yes she’s worried about being orange.
We’ve decided to go ahead and do it; but I have to go first for a test run😂
Although my skins quite olive compared to hers. I wouldn’t mind giving it a try anyway.

Thanks for all the advice 👍

You can buy self tanners in a spray bottle. I used to use one years ago that came in an aerosol. One application is fairly subtle and you can build it up over time.

My DD (14) uses Bondi Sands 1 hr express mousse. Nice, even tan and super quick too. A light tan develops in around 20-30 mins, although DD prefers a less subtle look Grin

Good luck with whatever one you choose!

My partner won a spray tan once. For some reason I assumed he would offer it to me but he (totally fair enough) had it done himself.
Imagine my surprise when he walked in looking like Ross after his '12' spray tan Grin
