Daughter just got bullmia

Hello a pal of my daughter (16) told me she had said she was throwing up/calorie counting, exercising/it made her feel like she was in control. I asked my daughter about it, she denied it and said she was fine. Today my daughter ate veg soup, a pot noodle & grapes. When I said thats not enough, she said for me to stop going on about food.
I am so worried. GCSE's are not helping. Any ideas?

Sorry, don't know anything about bulimia but there are support groups and information online.
For the GCSEs try and encourage her to get enough sleep, which might seem counterproductive to her if she's trying to cram in revision, but it helps to be rested. They're not a judgment of her, they're a measure of how well she did on one day.

I'm so sorry I don't have anything to add other than I think it's great her friend confided in you. I imagine knowing early like this has to be a good thing. Really hoping you get some help soon- specialist counselling maybe? I'm sure it's so common there will be counsellors who can help. Really feel for you and good luck ❤️

its likely your daughter has been doing this for a while. Has she ever had any body confidence issues before this? Is she being bullied in anyway. If possible try checking her social media accounts to rule this out.

What is the eating meals situation at home do you/are you able to eat together?
Have you told her what you were told?

bkgirl · 25/04/2019 03:16

Thanks, so managed to find out she downloaded an app to calorie count when she was 10 because she saw pics and thought she was a chubby kid - she totally wasn't! Thn a year ago she started throwing up and really calorie counting seriously. Since January I just thought she was getting tummy bugs a lot. DOH
Now she wants to leave school, has withdrawn from all but 1 friend. She would like more friends but feels isolated.

In the meantime I have 1 very unhappy 16 year old, I asked her did she want to redo the year (gcse's coming up but hasn't looked at a book)
but nope.
I can't tell you how worried I am, I love her to bits.
