DS15 (gcse year) smoking

I’ve found tobacco and rizlas in DS 15’s outdoor coat so obviously smoking . Smoking is a mug’s game in my view but I did try and smoke at same age and never took it up. I’m worried however that it’s probably not just tobacco that he’s smoking and not sure how to raise this with him - anyone else in same situation?

What makes you think it's not just Tobbaco OP?

I'd not push the lad away for trying out some bad thing like this, but educate him on dangers of addiction (cancer, financial problems)

Well I’m just suspicious that rollies normally linked to smoking weed and a few months ago I found an empty ‘baggie’ which he said he had been looking after for friend ... now thinking that might not have been true

Same issues with DD - also Y11. Except I did also find a small amount of cannabis too. I would agree with you that smoking rollies very often goes with smoking grass too, though it is also cheaper which is important to teens.

I confronted DD about it and she kind of said she smokes cause all the cool and interesting people smoke.Hmm I threw away the tobacco rizzlers and cannabis I found. But eventually agree to return her vaping thing to her on condition that she only smokes nicotine free tobacco.

I'm not sure what else you can do really. DD knows all about the risks, I've had conversations with her. I think if you make it hard for them to smoke they might smoke less and be less likely to get hooked. But it's really hard to stop them if they're determined
