Tooth extraction and fixed brace

My 14 year old is having 2 teeth extracted next month and then 2 weeks later having a fixed brace put in. (She’s not worried about having a brace just worried about being gappy for a while) apparently they need 2 weeks for the mouth to heal after extraction. The teeth she’s having out are 3 from her big tooth (her 4’s) so will be visible when she smiles.
Anyone have experience of this. We’re both a little anxious about it all. She’s not happy with her teeth. They re a little overcrowded and One tooth sits high and doesn’t have the room to come down. Please share positive experiences you have had.Thank you

Can you ammend the appointment for the first day of the summer holidays?

Dd had a baby tooth out first as the big tooth was not coming down in the correct area. She then had 2 adult teeth out (maybe the same ones as your dd or maybe number 5s). She didn't look too gappy and didn't seem bothered by it. Her teeth were extracted by the normal dentist under local anaesthetic but it did look brutal as adult teeth have proper roots.

Would that not be an awful long time to wait?

My niece just had the exact same done and you couldn't see where they were extracted unless she did a super wide smile , it really wasn't noticeable at all

My DS has had 4 baby teeth out (no adult teeth there) pre-molars I think, and brace goes in tomorrow. Even with 4 out you can't see the gaps.
It's a long time in a brace for him, but it's either this now, or implants later in life, with the bonus of getting his wonky teeth sorted at the same time

Ooh cornish were going to be going down a similar journey. We know theres missing teeth but not sure what the plan is yet. I do get really anxious avout it.

We were unsure what to do, but baby teeth will only last till age 30/40 so he'd need implants when they eventually come out.
Financially it's cheaper to get the teeth out now & get braces than pay for 4 implants - even at today's prices.
A lot of his friends have braces so it's no big deal for him to get it done at the moment.
The dentist did a great job taking out the teeth, got them all out in tact and was amazed at how big they were able to get with no adult teeth impeding them!

Weve had a local consultants appointment but need to wait now for a London one to see what they suggest. Im glad its working out for you.
