Who else thinks this is a amazing idea

So our local village association or whatever held a meeting recently. And we decided as a fundraiser we should throw a teen disco since the one in the next town over attracts all the teens from our village (they even run coaches to it from our village). It would make a large profit since all we'd pay for is the DJ. One of the members of the association is a DJ and she actually had a Setup for Uv parties and she's done them in this hall before. She said she'd do it for cheap (she does it mainly out of love for the music it's not her job).

So the idea is being considered. A lot of us think it's a amazing idea. We could even make extra money by selling Glow sticks, UV bracelets, UV face painting etc. Someone posed the idea of a few hours before open up the second room of the hall and

Sorry need to add this
So open up the second room of the hall and Offer Uv face painting/body painting as well as the selling of Accessories and Other stuff to make a extra profit. This is what the one in the next town over does and they make a tone.
so does anyone else think this is a amazing idea. I know my two love the idea and want to go. It will be 14-17 since that always seems to be the best option round here

Need someone to police the kids who try to bring weed or booze.
You know there's demand in your area so probably brill idea.

ApolloandDaphne · 10/02/2019 15:24

I don't know any 17yo that would go to an event like this with 14 yo's! 13-15 at a push might work.

Oblomov19 · 10/02/2019 15:38

I think you'll to be more specific about ages. Agree with pp: no 17 year old wants to go to a party with 14 year olds.
I don't think many 15 year olds are interested in glo sticks anymore. They are very adult. That sounds too babyish.

BrokenWing · 10/02/2019 15:59

Good idea if there is the demand you expect, have you worked out how many tickets you need to sell to make a profit and polled a good amount of teens to make sure there is interest?

ds(14) wouldn't go anywhere that had face painting and glo sticks as attractions!

MeMeBig · 10/02/2019 20:42

As long as there's no Vodka and weed, it'll be a good idea for 12-13 year olds

Mof3K · 10/02/2019 20:44

Glo sticks and face painting?
Have you met any 17 year olds??

Maybe teens in London are different to your " village " but I'd have to pay my two to attend.

honeylane · 10/02/2019 20:44

It could easily turn into a disaster of legless teenagers wandering the streets, crying and throwing up. This was always what happened at village hall parties when I was a teenager.

Will need to be heavily policed.

Todaythiscouldbe · 10/02/2019 20:47

My 14 year old wouldn't go, neither would his friends. If you know there's enough demand for it then give it a go, it would definitely not work here

MeMeBig · 10/02/2019 20:53

Mind you op, our area is full of underage drinking, so defo wouldn't work with teens.

LondonMumsta · 11/02/2019 04:16

Unless there’s a bunch of 12-17yr olds in your village association who endorse the relevance of this event, and it’s appeal to their peer groups, I’d reconsider it altogether as your expectations seem high. As a teen, I’d prefer to get on a bus and go to an event in an adjacent town rather than do all that ghastly teenage stuff on my own doorstep under the watchful eye of my parents’ friends. And the UV stuff, not for the over 12/13s, I reckon.

CeeCeeMacFay · 11/02/2019 07:25

Sorry but there's no way my ds 17 would be seen dead at this. He wouldn't have gone even three years ago. He liked UV stuff when he was 12.

ScreamingValenta · 11/02/2019 07:30

Could you ask around the teenagers in your village to find out what they'd want from the event?

funkylittleboatrace · 11/02/2019 13:14

You need to set the age a bit lower.

EstrellaDamn · 11/02/2019 13:17

I'd say you'd have more luck promoting it to 10-13 sort of age. At 17 I was an old hand at clubbing!

Catscratchclub · 11/02/2019 13:22

Def set the age a bit lower!

Other suggestions for teen nights could be movie night or a gaming night? Discos can be a bit marmite I think.

theonerealdiva22 · 11/02/2019 17:53

@Oblomov19 the one in the next town over is 14-17 and it attracts all them. If you get the music right they want the glow sticks so we're aiming for Hardstyle, Techno and the more hardcore EDM. 17 year olds wouldn't go but we'd be able to get 14-16

OP posts:
theonerealdiva22 · 11/02/2019 17:54

@LondonMumsta we aren't gonna be there we're hiring bouncers that are licensed to do these events. Yes they get pricy but we're getting the hall and dj at a very low cost so a few bouncers isn't gonna make a dent compared to the other stuff we do

OP posts:
theonerealdiva22 · 11/02/2019 17:56

Oh should add we're gonna add the traffic light theme to it. And it's also gonna be like EDC, Tomorrowland, coachella type face painting. Our local club throws Uv parties and that floods it with 18-25 year olds. Maybe it's a local thing. Should add I'm Irish from Ireland if that changes anything

OP posts:
theonerealdiva22 · 11/02/2019 17:57

If anyone wants a insight to what we're basing it off there's this thing in Ireland called the marquee teen events it's very popular among 14-17 from what I've seen and that's what we're basing it off. It's not my local one though my 2 usually pike money together with their basically best friends to hire a bus to and from it

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 11/02/2019 18:07

It wouldn’t work here with that age group, but it sounds like in your area there will be more demand. Good luck!

Kids’/tweens discos always make good money here- nice easy fundraiser, especially the tuck shop

theonerealdiva22 · 12/02/2019 20:07

Update: so we started selling tickets today and yeah we've already sold 60 that's the best any event round our area has ever done. We're aiming for 300 which is a good size in this hall. We've had around 200 people interested as well and a lot saying if they can buy tickets later. Looks like we're going well it's working!!!. We've also got ourselves the security real bouncer's Male and female and they're licensed to deal with teens (not sure if licensed is the right word). So looks like it's going well

Mof3K · 12/02/2019 20:34

Ok great???
What do you want us to say?

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 12/02/2019 20:42

Great! I’m not sure what else you want!

babysharkah · 12/02/2019 21:27

300 teenagers in a hall. Jesus.
