Help from parents?

I have 5 children- all teenagers & we are having problems with each of them right now- I'll probably put them all in separate posts.

My DD2 is 14; she has awful cramps and has done for about a year now, she takes 2 paracetamol & 1 ibuprofen everyday around the time of her period, I took her to the doctor recently and he gave her prescription painkillers, she has been on them for about 2 months and there is no improvement- I want to put her on the pill but DH suggests otherwise & doctor doesn't seem too keen. Any other parents out there with their Daughters on the pill? What's it like? Does it help? And just general tips for bringing the DH round to the idea

I had awful period pains starting at 12, I would physically vomit because they were so bad and missed a lot of school. My mum made the decision to put me on the pill at 14 because I was popping paracetamol like tik taks and it was the best thing ever. Didn’t make me interested in sex at all either if you know what I mean (knowing I was protected didn’t make me want to go and do it lol), I’m 22 now and still on the same pill, I still get the odd pains a bit before I’m due but NOTHING compared to what I suffered.
With your husband I would just reassure him that it might be the only option you’ll be left with soon. I know the pill has effects which I’m unsure of myself, does your husband and doctor say why their so against them?

She has my sympathy as my periods used to be shockers.

Has she tried Ibruprofen more regularly? Two tablets every 4 hours in the day, starting a couple of days before she’s due.

The next step would usually be methanamic acid.

Does she get enough Calcium? I was told at the hospital that lack of calcium can affect your menstral cycle. She might need some her iron levels checking if she’s bleeding heavily too Thanks
