14 yo kissing boyfriend in our house

I'm wondering if you would allow your 14 year to be kissing their boyfriend in the house? How do I set boundaries around this? I don't want to exclude them but I'm not sure I'm comfortable with them doing that sort of thing here.

Where would you rather they did it? Confused

My sister has a no bedrooms rule in her house meaning if her 14 year old and her boyfriend want to kiss than it's got to be done in the living room or the kitchen where the rest of the family are .
She's pretty respectful of the rule too

I like the no bedroom rule. It's niceto know weon on the right track. yes, I'd rather them be around here than doing for elsewhere.

If the op has a dining room or a kitchen/diner, each with a comfortable sofa, they can have their kiss and cuddle there but be right next to the rest of the family and doors are open.

They have to learn that public displays of affection are a no no, it's ill mannered, people who are with them won't know which way to look or how to start a conversation.

Just to make it clear , my niece never does do any sort of public display of affection , I think she would die of embarrassment 😂

I think being surrounded by your family will turn off any hormonal teen !

I’m in my late 5Os. When I was a teen, my parents had all sorts of restrictive rules about what they were comfortable with, and I figured their house, their rules and complied. Outside their house, I set my own boundaries.
I think most teens do. It’s only polite.

GailTheFish · 01/01/2019 07:56

Can’t you allow them in her bedroom but maybe that the door has to stay open? At 14 surely kissing her boyfriend is fine, it’s going to happen so surely better than it happens inside rather than out on a park bench? I think there’s a balance to be struck here - too strict and you’ll risk driving her away.

No bedroom rule for me as well. I have sons but I wouldn’t have had them take a 14 year old to their bedroom. The people I know who are very right on with all this have had to deal with teenage pregnancies.

blindmusicmum · 02/01/2019 03:03

Seems like Iamon the right track. They are allowed anywhere in the house, just not the bedroom.

I was allowed bedroom but door always open. I think PDAs are worse than 'private' but not entirely confidential!

AlbertWinestein · 02/01/2019 03:19

I was allowed to take my boyfriends into my bedroom at 14 (during the day) and the stuff we got up to would make a porn stars hair curl.

I have a firm no boyfriends/girlfriends in the bedroom rule before 16/17 here.

anitagreen · 02/01/2019 03:51

I was allowed to take boyfriends upstairs with the door open , but it didn't stop anything.
I remember giving my bf a Bj whilst everyone had dinner downstairs and my dad in the next room I don't know why I did it as I cringe now at the thought of him potentially seeing, also used to have a quick bang too against the bed as the actual bed made too much noise, with the door open and made it look like we was just laying on the bed BlushBlushBlushBlushBlush
