Memory

My 16 year old keeps forgetting things. He's been like it since primary. He was meant to go to a memory club at primary but kept forgetting to go! I'm quite forgetful. Perhaps it's just a hereditary thing? His memory problem is probably why he hates exams & didn't do well in his GCSE's. He's at college now doing a BTEC. But I've noticed that he relies on ALEXA to tell him when he has to go in! Should I be concerned?

This is probrably a bit of a wild shot but does he have problems with attention and concentrating ?

Yes. One of his teachers at primary school & secondary school suggested he could have Attention Deficit Disorder but I took him to Dr's & they reckoned he didn't so I didn't pursue it. Perhaps i should've insisted he was assessed.

Mine was referred twice and first time said she didn’t have it and second time she was diagnosed.if he still has problems with concentrating it may be a good idea to get him to do a few online quizzes and if they say he might then I’d go private because I doubt he’d be taken in by cahms .

My ds had roblems remembering his stuff eg losing bank card etc. But has an amazing memory for details / school work facts. He was diagnosed with dyspraxia. Also memory issues can be associated with dyslexia. I would encourage to get him a full assessment.
