Decorating the Xmas tree

Anyone else have teens who don't want to be involved with anything 'family-y' ??

Can't be bothered to engage with parents/younger siblings at all?

Just a tiny bit of giving a shit would be nice Sad

Like putting one sodding bauble on the tree!!

No. We have very strict instructions not to even think about decorating the tree until our little one arrives back from Italy and is joined here by her boyfriend to help. Her brother and girlfriend are coming across to help.

Mine often demand to do the whole thing without my input. Sorry. It's not compulsory, you know.

I have one screaming tirade at some robot game right now. If you would like to swap? I'd gladly take a merely-can't-be-asked kid instead.

Mine's 11 and didn't want to join in Sad

Extra freebie: I'll throw in a cute black cat nagging for tea....

pasanda · 08/12/2018 18:53

Lljkk- we get that sort of thing too.

I just feel kind of sad about it today. Dd14 is really pushing the boundaries atm and visions of cherrypavlovas family tree decorating event make me jealous.

Pathetic I know.

I'll be ok tmrw

I always do it either by myself or one of the kids may help. It's not a big family affair here tbh

Fizzy. God. 11! That's the younger 2 next year.

I might go abroad instead!

Mine wont help. She shows a bit of interest for 10 mins then disappears. She'll pop up when all the works done, and take some pictures for snap chat to tell her friends how great it all is.

I now have one pestering me to pay for her Xmas gifts to friends. Looks like £5/head but only £25 total. Did I get off lightly?

pasanda · 08/12/2018 19:08

Llkjj yes. I reckon you did.

My dd asked for an extra £50 for Xmas pressies for friends and family. (3 siblings, 4 parents/step-parents) which I gave her. Fine.

She already gets £40 pm from me and her dad. Then she asked me to pay £30 for the rest of her friends pressies. Which she will probably (not) pay me back.

Yesterday I found out she had also weedled £50 from her dad. She had specifically told me he had refused ! So she lied and is now rich!!

She did just put the star on the top of the tree as it's her year (dc take it in turns!)

So I guess I should be pleased about that!

Since they were toddlers we have had a tradition of going to buy a real tree which is then stuffed in the car and everyone has branches in their ears. We did this yesterday, this time it was DS's car Grin. They are 20 and 23.
They fix the tree in the stand and position it but I have done the actual decoration for the last few years.
