Hopefully you'll recognised my name so will know I'm not a troll or journo.

I'm just looking for anyone who has experience with a son who hasn't started any sort of pubertal changes when they're 14.5.

My son also has a life long health condition and due to malnutrition hasn't started puberty at all (he is PEG fed) He is tiny compared to peers and it really effects his confidence.
His bone age X-ray and DEXA scan are putting him 3 years behind average and after an examination yesterday his dr is offering a kick start of testosterone injections. DS is keen for it to happen.
Does anyone have any experience with this?

Used to work for a paediatric endocrinologist. There were several boys with a similar history who went on sustenon patches or injections. Some just needed a kick start and others would need lifelong supplementation.

The doctors would warm mums that their sons might get a bit of an attitude but it would wear off. There were a few parents reluctant to have this treatment but we're advised it would be good for their sons bone development and general health.

That's helpful to know. He already has an attitude at times so that won't be too different! I think it's a four month kick start they're talking about.

Hi my 15 year old son has just completed a course of testosterone injections for delayed puberty & I haven’t noticed any change in his temperament. His body is finally changing though - which he is very happy about. His growth X-ray put him at almost 5 years behind so he’s looking forward to growing!

When I say attitude it's usually only what you would get in a typical teen. Some of the children on this treatment have SEN, may be functioning a little younger and be very close with their mums so a sudden bout of teenage angst can be a bit Confused to mum.
