My daughter has said that she has woke up crying in her sleep 3 times over the past 3 months
Actual tears running down her face and it's disturbing her sleep and unsettling her
Has anyone had this before
I have asked her if something is bothering her like college, friend issues, boyfriend etc
And she says no
My ex and girls dad have been split up and have been for over 12 years my daughter is 16
He isn't a great dad
Never sees her but they do call and text
I have asked if her dad is the issue and she says no

I know nothing about night terrors in teenagers but in smaller children there's a lot of research to suggest over tiredness plays a big part. Certainly, this is true for ds. Is it possible this is a factor?

Yes could be over tiredness

If she’s 16 is she feeling anxious about her GCSEs? Is she getting plenty of rest and time away from her phone?

It must be very unsettling for your DD.

Ds1 has had night terrors since he was a toddler, he is now 15 in year 11.

They increase in frequency with over-tiredness or stress.

He is aware of how much he wakes up yelling as we put a sleep app on his phone 2 years ago which triggers with sound (for snoring.)

So he has a self imposed early bedtime, no phone/tech in his room, reads to wind down before sleep. The good news is, he wakes naturally around 6.25am and is not tired or grumpy first thing. Jumps straight in the shower.
