18th birthday party ideas

Struggling with this one! DD wants a party, but not at home. No venues I have called are willing to take the booking. The sad thing is she has had a really hard time over the last 4 years with mental and physical health issues and has very few friends of her own age, so it's going to be a quiet affair, but understandably everyone I contact doesn't see that.
I think she wants something where people can mingle and stay for a bit or all evening. Just play her own playlist and hangout with family and friends!
We have space at home, but a very excitable dog (that some family members can find a bit much as they are afraid of anything but a lap dog) and DD doesn't want to lock him away.
Any ideas welcomed as I'm all out and time is running out.

If it is a 'quiet affair' would it work if you made it a day time do ?
'Afternoon Tea' rather than alcohol / dj / bar ?
You would find it a lot easier to hire a hall for that.

If it is just the dog that is putting you off having it at home could you get a dog sitter for the evening? We have one that has dogs overnight at her house that we use occasionally.

It might be easier to book a function room somewhere if you describe it as a ‘family party’ or similar rather than stating it’s an 18th birthday?

Thanks for the ideas. I've suggested the afternoon tea and she didn't think it was her kind of thing. I have tried not saying what I'm booking for, but they always ask specifically and I just can't bring myself to tell a complete lie 😀. As for the dog, I'm not sure what the issue is really?! A dog sitter might work . . . will have a chat. Am beginning to suspect nothing will be quite right though.

Why not go for a meal - an indian or similar.

Would she be interested in a private booth in a nightclub? You can hire them for 8 people in many clubs with a drinks package. She wouldn't need to get up and dance or mingle with people she doesn't know, but certainly with DD18's friends, it's considered a pretty cool way to celebrate an 18th.

Otherwise you could phone a few pubs and see if they have a private room that could be used - they're about the only places that allow 18th birthday celebrations around here.
