Periods

My 15 year old daughters periods have stopped
She isn't pregnant as she isn't sexually active
We have had that discussion
But was wondering if anyone else's daughter. Has experienced this and what was the reason / solution

Has she been restricting her calorie intake? There’s this useful guide from the Caroline Walker Trust that sets out the amount of calories and types of food she should be having. Is she eating as much as as varied a diet as they suggest?

Would suggest a HPT just to be sure. If you took her to a GP they would do one to exclude the obvious reasons first.

Stress can cause periods to stop too.

Agree with shoe too. Definitely get her to POAS.

Dieting, lots of sport, anaemia, anorexia as well as a bunch of medical conditions can cause periods to stop.
If she is a healthy weight then a trip to the dr to get a blood test to rule out lots of other things should be her next stop. If she’s stressed/training hard/very low weight then they should come back soon :)

How many has she missed. I skipped one last month for no apparent reason

mumtoateenger75 · 21/08/2018 21:15

2 months max

Sorry POAS is pee on a stick. There’s a list of other MN Abbrievations here.

If she’s just missed one, it could well be stress. If it’s more than one, id get her to the GP.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 21/08/2018 21:18

Sorry, x-posted with you there Smile

My DD missed 5 !! All leading up to GCSEs. She was however a late starter so was in first year of periods anyway and I had been irregular for first 2 years. I made an appointment after GCSEs just to check and she came on before appointment and has been fairly regular since. Well done to your DD on her results,

Pie566 · 26/08/2018 17:24

My dd started her period just over a year ago and for the past 4 months she didn’t have her period but then she’s had 2 this month. I looked it up and it’s completely normal as their periods can be irregular for the first few years and sometimes into their 20s. Hope this helps Smile
