Paying for someones birthday - thoughts!!

Hi so my one of my daughter's friends is having a 16th party with bowling and a meal. However, she's asked my daughter and the other people who are invited to contribute £10 because 'her mum has paid over 100 for this' (and I'm guessing this is on top of a gift.) What do you think? Would you give the £10?

I would. I wouldn’t be happy, but I would do it because it’s not the fault of the birthday girl or your DD. It sounds very CF, however the parent/s may be genuinely struggling.

At that age my DS arranges hos own thing meals out etc and they all pay for themselves but I may pay for part.

£10 seems reasonable to me. It will be costing at least double that.

I would, Wouldn't be too bothered by it. If money is tight I wouldn't buy a gift or would buy a token gift to go with the card.

I think that’s reasonable. DD birthday in Gee weeks and she wants a group of friends to go for dinner. I have said that i will provide some of the money but that she should tell friends they will need to pay for their meal. Everyone has seemed on board.

Of course.
They are not little children anymore. If they all want to go out, then they all pay for themselves at this age.
Absolutely normal. Well, normal to pay for self, not to have part of cost paid for by another parent.

Dd's friendship group either pay for themselves or buy a present, but never both

Works for them and everyone is happy with the arrangement
