Hi there

Can I ask who's teen daughter has a pt job? Our teen is nearly 1i, at 6th form and refuses to get a job or apply as her excuse is Oh I'm too busy! ?

She needs to get a paid job for life experience? Yes voluntary work, dofe is good though paid work is good ? . We pay for her phone and bus pass nothing else as rules have been broken. Thank you in advance of replies x

My 18yo DD started off with a voluntary job at the library when she was 15, then not long afterwards got a PT job in retail and has worked PT since then. Are you making it too comfortable for her? i.e. are you paying for her phone, clothes etc? We gave DD enough to survive on, but not enough to have much fun, so she did have an incentive to work. It might be worth reminding her that when she DOES want to get a job, she mind find it hard to compete with people that have worked since 16.

DD started work shortly after her 16th birthday, is now self-funding for uni (taking fees loan and basic living loan). Apart from saving money main benefits have been massive increase in self-confidence and work / independence skills which have proved invaluable during past year at uni. Didn't affect A level results.

Hi there
Attempted various ways to get DD to apply for jobs,Get all sorts of excuses😕.

We pay phone and bus pass now. Nothing else so she spends most of her time in her room and on phone.

Not sure what to do? She is hoping to go to uni Sept 2019 .... Fed up with her being so lazy. Her room is a pig stye as well.

My DS18 has worked 12 hours per week at a supermarket for the last 18 months. His social skills have improved no end. His education has not suffered by working. He has now finished college and is volunteering for lots of overtime over the summer before he goes to University.
