So much yelling here - going insane

DH + I have just come home from our first week away on our own for 20 years (kids are 20,18,15 so old enough.

Been home 24 hours and already I am so upset - so much yelling and screaming over what to feed them, or who peed on the toilet seat, who spilled garlic butter all over my new handbag...

Doesn't help that DH yells at them from downstairs or from the other room to catch their attention which sets them off; I'm upset as I recently found out a close relative is terminally ill; we came home to find the loo in a horrid state + I was on my knees scrubbing within 10 mind of getting home from the airport.

We went away to get away from all this + it now feels worse. DH is also telling me I need to calm down + why have I been so stressed since we got back!

I feel your pain. I hope you managed to have a half decent holiday before you came back to all this. It is exactly what I imagine I would come back to if we went away! Sad Hopefully when you've all calmed down and you can speak to them they will see some of the error of their ways.Flowers

Poor you, sounds awful.

I would start with stopping the yelling from another room, harder than it sounds!

Not sure how to introduce toilet etiquette, but no way should you have to scrub the toilet floor!

I bought sticky bullseyes for the toilets! Still there now they're older.

It's hard not to tell sometimes but it does raise the noise level with everyone. Apparently if you lower your tone, even when angry, they will mirror it. Must try!
