DD wants to shave her armpits

mckenzie · 27/03/2018 21:35

She’s 13 and quite fair but her arm puts hairs are long.
She plays a lot of sport and often wears vest tops etc so they are on show.
Any recommendations please?
TIA

Um... razors? Male sure she knows how to lather

Ohyesiam · 27/03/2018 21:37

Do you mean should she be wet or dry shaving?
My 13 year old dd wet shaved.

Ohyesiam · 27/03/2018 21:37

Shaves

AmysTiara · 27/03/2018 21:38

If she wants to shave then let her. She's 13 and the hair is long.

Pumkinfailure · 27/03/2018 21:38

My 10 year old shaves (dark and hairy and was upsetting her) and I just get her the disposable Gillette razors, seems to work well.

StarUtopia · 27/03/2018 21:38

13? Christ. Let her. Give her a razor. Show her once how to do it. Let her get on with it.

Aprilmightmemynewname · 27/03/2018 21:40

My dd's 11+12 have shaved legs and arms since hairs first appeared 1/2 years ago. Their bodies and I believe they are entitled to decide if they want hairs or not!!

boatrace30 · 27/03/2018 21:41

Please do let her shave. My mum didn't when I was young and PE lessons were hell on earth.

Steamcloud · 27/03/2018 21:42

Philips battery wet/dry lady shave. Safe and easy to use.

BeefyCakes · 27/03/2018 21:42

Her body, if she wants to shave, well let her.

Just get good razors, not the crappy poundland ones Shock Shock ouch.

Hellsbellscockleshells · 27/03/2018 21:43

My DD started at 12 she just nicked one of my razors out of the bathroom without saying anything.

Bouledeneige · 27/03/2018 21:43

My DD borrowed my lady shaver.

KirstenRaymonde · 27/03/2018 21:44

Razor, shaving foam. Simple.

ShatnersBassoon · 27/03/2018 21:45

What's the question?

MyKingdomForBrie · 27/03/2018 21:46

Oh my dear god let her, teenagers can be merciless and hairy armpits will not go unnoticed. If she’s at all sweaty hair can make that worse in terms of smells too..

RoseDog · 27/03/2018 21:49

My dd was about 11 when she wanted shave, she went in the bath wearing a swimming costume and I gave her a quick lesson with a disposable razor, Gillette or Wilkinson sword, and shave gel.

Remember to tell her to moisturise her legs afterwards.

OliviaStabler · 27/03/2018 21:50

The Venus razor by Gillette is good. The heads have plenty of lubrication so nicks are rare. Downside is the replacement heads can be costly.

milleniumhandandprawn · 27/03/2018 21:50

What do you do OP?

Polkadot1974 · 27/03/2018 21:51

Just make sure she knows it needs to be clean. I got infected armpit while away on a school exchange and was in agony
My GP said razors were awful for harbouring bacteria
I’d wax these days if I could get time for an appointment but either way you must let her be hair free if she wants to be

mckenzie · 27/03/2018 21:51

Apologies, I wasn’t clear.
I was after recommendations for the best hair removal for young skin/hair.
I’ve suggested to her that a battery/electriclady shave might be best.

Millennium, I had Lazer hair removal treatment about 8 years ago so I no longer need to wax or shave.

My DD14 and I use these -

www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/263645491

They have wire wrapped blades and we never get nicks. Hope this helps!

Pleasebeafleabite · 27/03/2018 22:50

At that age my dd had a ladyshave it seemed safer somehow!!

mckenzie · 28/03/2018 07:44
