13year olds and boys houses.....

My 13 yo DD wants to go around to a boys house alone (tho apparently they are not going out?!?). I am not keen but apparently I am the only parent who is like this - all her friends go around their boyfriend's houses. I said why not go to the cinema, meet in town, hang out etc. but apparently that's not what they do these days, they go straight to their houses.I know it comes down to trust but she went around his house whilst saying she was going to a friends house. I just wonder what everyone else does/would do....Is she correct that this is what everyone does?

By alone do you mean that the boy’s parents won’t be there? If so I think you’re right to question this. My kids are younger but I have nieces around that age and they would be allowed to go but only if the boy’s parents were definitely home.

She tells me his dad is always home.....do you think that your nieces are in their bedrooms or playing games/watching TV etc downstairs...?

DD is 16 and I allow it now but not at 13.

In the case of my niece, SIL is very good friends with the boyfriend’s mum so trusts her to supervise properly. When the boyfriend comes to her house, they are allowed in the bedroom but doors have to stay open. And younger niece is 6 and rather taken with the boyfriend so they don’t get a minute alone anyway! If you don’t know the family and are worried perhaps you could invite the boy round to yours instead?

Oh and that neice is 14 by the way!

Thank you. No I don't really know the family or boy. Met his father fleetingly once...
yes I have mentioned that he could come here but she didn't seem keen!

I do think there are a lot more boy/girl friendships these days than when I was younger. My D'S aged 16 best friend is a girl. We are now getting into mixed group sleepovers Confused but it is all very platonic
