What age is your child? I go to a lot of festivals and they are riddled with drugs and drunk people. In order to get into wireless you need to be over 18 or if under 18 accompanied by an adult.

intuition · 23/01/2018 20:25

It says under 16s must be accompanied by someone over 18. Just wondered what age parents let their kids go. Mine is a mature 15yo DS.

Ha what a coincidence, my 14 yr old literally just mentioned this, says he wants to go and all his mates are going, I did say I doubt they will be going without an adult. Have to look into this a bit more

LoveBeingAMum555 · 23/01/2018 20:53

Thanks for thread. DS is 17 and wants to go with a group of friends. Really not keen on this idea, especially as we live up North and although he has been into big cities to football matches without an adult he has never done anything like this.

It seems the appeal of Wireless is that it is much cheaper than other festivals. More advice needed I think.

My 16 DD is looking to go with her mates too. I'll be worried sick tbh. 😩

intuition · 23/01/2018 21:18

Has it been on before?? Was there any trouble?? What sort of reputation does it have for trouble??

It’s been on for years. All the mothers sic festivals are a bit rough. This was in the press after Wireless last year

Personally I wouldn’t be comfortable with an under 18 going. These are adult events.

NorthernSpirit · 23/01/2018 21:57

I meant all the music festivals.....

My ex husband , father to my 16 yr old daughter has bought her a ticket without consulting me which Im not happy about. So Im quite relieved that none of her friends could get tickets !

extinctspecies · 25/01/2018 09:45

I started a thread about this in Chat. 16 yo DS wanted to go, I would have been fine with it - lots of other posters said it was fine & very much that age group.

Unfortunately he did not get a ticket in time so isn't going now.

My 16 yo son went to Wireless with a few of his friends last year in 2021 in Crystal Palace. I was worried about the alcohol and consumption as I am not to familiar with festivals. When he came back he told that there wasn’t much alcohol or drugs as I thought there was as security was very active throughout. I would say that overall the festival is actually very safe and parents should not worry as long as they know their child will be sensible.

My 18 year old is going, can we stop her? No, but a very honest conversation can be had about what she does there, contact with us and how to stay safe. That said an under 18 I'd be less chilled about tbh
