How many driving lessons

Before you risked taking your DC out for practise?

DD has had 8 hours and the instructor is saying still not ready.........

I am pretty calm but clearly no breaks on my side if required as there would be in the driving instructors car.

Not sure if the instructor is just trying to rack up the hours or if she is really not ready?

Hi. My DS had around 16 lessons before he went out in our car. It was truly nerve wracking (for me!) but he did just fine. I'd take the driving instructors advice and perhaps wait a bit longer - you don't want an accident!

Thanks for that. It does sound then like it might be wise to wait! Don't want an accident as excess on the insurance is huge 😳

I am learning now age 31 and after 7.5 hours I am definitely not ready to practice without dual controls.

Why not drive her to an empty car park and see how drives when there is no likelihood of an accident?

Wait until the instructor says it is fine. I had 4 hours before my instructor said I would be fine practicing in my own car but I'd had lessons and a failed test 6 years previous.

I went out without dual controls as my first time on the road! I also only had 17 hours of lessons in total though!

(I was in the middle of nowhere though, not straight out from the house - dad used to drive somewhere really really quiet first)

Once they'd passed their tests, here.
My car is very different from the instructor's.

Thanks, really helpful.
Think I will find an empty large car park to try it out and then wait a little for more lessons.
