Reading Festival

My DD15 has recently been asking to go to the reading festival in 2018. Her and 7 of her friends are looking to buy tickets soon so I need to make a decision. It will be the weekend after her GCSE result and she and all her friends will be 16. She is very sensible but I know many others from her school will be going an I worry about her getting influenced in large groups of other her age. WWYD?

It's the toughest festival there is. If she goes make sure she lacks up and leaves early on the Sunday morning. You don't wanna be at the campsites at Reading on Sunday

It's designed for teens post exams. I was 18 first time I want but could have gone earlier. She needs a cheap payg phone in case it gets lost and the abilty to function on very little sleep. The police and security are all over it as well as Sally army etc so if she's in a group of friends she should be ok. She will drink and should take condoms just in case! I know a lot of people who lost their virginity at festivals !

My dd went this year for the first time, she was 17, she was in a group of about 15.

She also went to Boardmasters in Cornwall and is already planning which festivals to go to next year.

She loved them both and didn't have any problems.

Does anyone know if you are able to get ray tickets as we don’t live that far away and would perhaps prefer to offer to drop early/collect late over her calming for the weekend?

My ds went after GCSES, AS levels snd A levels. After the A levels he said he wouldn't go again as it was "full of kids" 😁😁. I think it's all fairly well organised and very much aimed at 16 year olds. Ds had a great time there the first 2 years until he got too old for it!

I think if she is going to go everyday then it will still be cheaper to get weekend tickets.

Top tip - tell her not to wear flip flops. DS got sepsis last year from standing on a nail in his flip flops there and just cleaning with a baby wipe!!

I had a whale of a time at just 17 back in the 80s when it was hardcore!!!!! Smile
