I now know how my mum felt when I first started to drive and I used to think she was being ridiculous.
My daughter's friend has recently passed her test and is on her way to collect her and some friends to go out (about an hours drive away)
Been dreading this Blush

Scary when they fly the nest hey. Particularly now we have no control as parents! Sure they will be careful xx

I feel your pain. My heart is in my mouth every time my girl goes out in the car Shock

I'm going to have to sit on my hands so I'm not tempted to text her every half an hour!Grin

My DS 18 travels all over the country, at all times of day and night for his job. Whenever he's working I am a bag of nerves from about 15 minutes before he should get to his destination until I get a text from him to say he's arrived.

I'm sure I drive him mad but he hasn't forgotten to text yet thankfully!

I'm hoping she texts me when they get there, she is usually rubbish at doing that though!x

One of mine still texts me when he gets there and he's been driving 4 years. The other usually forgets.
Your own DC driving is one thing but I never let mine give lifts to friends until they had been passed their test a few months. Likewise I didn't let them take lifts. A car load of 17 year olds is a big distraction to a new driver.

I am eight months into this. DS1 passed his test at Christmas. I am just starting to sort of forget about it when he drives off.

There are a couple of his mates that he flatly refuses to be driven by.

She forgot to text me but has just got in! Her friend was driving very carefully apparently and I don't think anyone actually spoke in the car so that she didn't get distracted!Grin

My DD has her test next week. Of course I want her to pass but it is easier not having to think about her driving by herself at the moment.

Bizarrely I worry most when eldest DS is picking youngest DS up - as he is right now. I can imagine DS showing off to his younger brother and DS2 egging him on. And if they have an accident that's both of my children in that car!!!
