Hi everyone, hope you're all well. My DD14 is having a lot of trouble with her periods. Very long, 2 weeks sometimes and extremely painful. She's in bed all time and just cannot move. It also gives her a lot of anxiety and makes her feel very low. She has a lot of other health problems too and this just adds to it. We're at the hospital every week for other things. She's only had a couple of periods. Dr did mention the continuous birth control pill, the mini pill?? What are your experiences with this pill? Do any of you know how long after the first period they are allowed to go on the pill? It makes her life miserable. Would it be possible to go on the pill Only after a few moths of having periods? Sorry for all the questions, thank you x

My DD is 12 and on the pill but she is on the one where she has a break still - this was on advice from the doctor.
Her periods are very heavy, she was very hormonal and it was really knocking her confidence.
I waited a year after she started (as it can take a few months for them to settle down) but they were only getting worse - her doctor was really understanding and offered a non hormonal one to begin with (something like a few days before their period is due they start taking the tablets right through until they finished their period) this to me might be a bit more confusing and with the pill I thought it would better for her to continue taking the pill for the pack and then regular have bleeds.
Please take her to the doctor and speak to them - its hard enough growing up without all this extra pressure on them - my DD is now on her 3rd pack and i've really noticed a difference in her (she has taken them back to back again on the doctors advice) so we've yet to have a period and see if there is a change to that but already we have seen an improvement x

I was put on the pill at 14 after starting my periods at 10. Periods used to literally knock me out with the pain, passed out so many times at school it was horrendous. Unfortunately the mini pill didn't help me but I know that it does help a lot of people. I wasn't allowed the pill due to family history so until I was old enough to get the implant I just had to struggle.

Really hope it works for your daughter!
