Anxiety in DS 15 - off school

DS15, been off school since Weds - sudden onset of lack of energy, lethargy, dizziness, feels permanently "empty", struggling to get enough air in his lungs, its accompanied by some anxiety - I think health anxiety- which makes his breathing worse and he gets panicky about it. GP thinks its stress - not keen to do blood tests after just one of two days, although we have had much less severe episodes like this a few times in the last year or so.
Diet is OK and appetite is good. He's never ill so this is unusual.
Any similar experiences / advice?

My DD14 is in bits with anxiety. Came on pretty suddenly tho she's always been a worrier. She's getting panicky feelings and just wants to get away so she's hardly been in school all week. It's also affecting her out of school and now even at home. Seems to be getting rapidly worse. She's so upset by it, as am I. Had a meeting in school on Friday and I took her to a private CBT therapist. Former was more use than latter but I think that was the timing and not seeing the right person. Hoping that with the support of school she will manage to get back into school this week but am desperate to get proper help to prevent it getting worse. Will see GP asap.

Feel like a bad parent for not recognising the depth of her struggles sooner and for her having them in the first place.

Hi WasWild - sorry to hear that about your DD. DS has pretty much been his normal self over the weekend, so I'm wondering what he'll be like in the morning in terms of getting off for school.
I think I may naturally be of the old-school "if you talk about anxiety it will make you more anxious" brigade, but I don't want to be if that's just putting our heads in the sand. Thanks for the link though - looks good.
I'm glad the school meeting was good - definitely something I'll arrange if the problem returns tomorrow, as it would point towards an anxiety that has something to do with school.
Good luck this week.
