Please help re DD's spots. She uses Superdrug face wash but is there anything reliably helpful? She's getting fed up with them but I'm not sursure it's something to go to the gp about...
thank you

Honestly, it's worth a trip to the GP, there's lots of stuff they can prescribe that's much more effective than anything you can get over the counter.

I took DS to the GP about his spots when he was 14, and he was prescribed a course of antibiotics that cleared his skin completely within a few months.

Def go to GP. They'll prob start her on Duac, which is a gel, and if bad enough, on antibiotics. DD is on her 2nd round of antibiotics now - most are on her back - gp said she may refer to dermatologist.

Depends if it's just the odd one or serious acne. I use a spot on thing to dry them up if I get one. If she's at risk of scarring and they affect her day to day life then I would take her.

If my mother had taken my sisters to the GP about their spots when they are first a problem, they wouldn't have scarring on their faces and shoulders and have a lifetime of unhappiness and trying to cover them up.

It's a tough one - getting medication only treats spots as a symptom (believe me I've been on Duac, panoxyl, tetracyclines, and roaccutane THREE TIMES)!!! If you want to treat it properly you need to have a thorough look at internal and external factors. PM me OP and I can give you some advice if you like :) I understand more than anyone - had acne from 11 to 25!! It made me highly self conscious and really affected my MH!

We just took our youngest to the doctor. He got a course of antibiotics.

Definitely go to the gp, I was so worried I would be accused of wasting our gp's time but she was so understanding and gave us a prescription that helped. I think they are very aware of the MH issues it can lead to.
