WWYD re teen party
chocolateworshipper · 20/05/2017 08:33
If you knew that a 17yo was planning to have a party when the parents were away, you knew the Mum and you knew that Mum would go mad if she knew about the party, would you tell her?
It's a dilemma because the Mum would be upset if she knew I had known and hadn't said anything, but I also don't want to get my own teen in trouble.

Yes, I am mum to 2 young adults who have been allowed to stay home alone over the past few years on trust. The last thing I would have wanted is my house trashed and I would have been very glad you had warned me.
AlexanderHamilton · 20/05/2017 08:42
Yes I would definitely tell her.

Depends if the 17 year old is having a handful of ~17 year old friends over for a party, or if its looking like a huge event getting out of hand.
Surely most parents know if they leave their teen with an empty they are going to invite some friends over?

Maybe an anonymous tip off - presuming your child isn't the only one that knows so no fingers can be pointed
CrazedZombie · 21/05/2017 18:27
Would you want her to tell you if the shoe was on the other foot? No brainer imo.
LottieDoubtie · 21/05/2017 18:29
I agree with wings. Are we talking 5 kids for a drink and a bit of fun or 300 and a trashed house?
The former is blind eye territory the later obviously tell her...
Carolinethebrave · 21/05/2017 18:29
Yes I'd tell her
blankface · 21/05/2017 19:48
The arranged 'a few friends' can turn into hordes with just one thoughtless post on social media.
I'd tell her.
GiraffeorOcelot · 22/05/2017 21:09
I'd want to be told so I'd tell her.
Sparklingbrook · 22/05/2017 21:16
It depends what sort of party it's going to be.
You have to tread carefully too, so as not to alienate your own teen. Imagine the repercussions for them, probably never getting an invite to a party again.
SorrelSoup · 22/05/2017 21:18
Tell her but make up a story so that you don't drop dd in it.
BrexitSucks · 22/05/2017 21:38
Probably would find a way to make sure she found out, yes.
chocolateworshipper · 22/05/2017 22:21
Thank you so much for all the replies. I found a way to let her know without getting my teen in trouble
BrexitSucks · 23/05/2017 18:38
