Hi all,
Does anyone have a suggestion of a good place to buy a dress for my 13 year old daughter to wear to our friends wedding please? She is not into fashion and prefers to wear leggings and t shirts still and certainly doesn't own anything suitable! It's such an awkward age as she is not a little girl but not an adult either. She doesn't want bra straps showing so no spaghetti straps! I have looked at next and johnnie b. She doesn't like anything! Any suggestions of places we could look? Thanks.

Try Chi chi london online where my dd got a dress from recently for a wedding.

Monsoon, Boden, Asos all do nice wedding guest outfits for teenagers. Im not sure if you'll find anything suitable but Damsel in a Dress have nice dresses too.

Debenhams. I got DD a couple of lovely dresses by Julian McDonald (in the sale) that she wore to weddings. YumiGirl has some great dresses for teens, also J by Jasper Conran and RJR by John Rocha. i wouldn't pay full price for them but they have a lot under £30.

Crikey, that was a long link, sorry!

River Island? They stock a range for younger teenagers.

Brilliant! Thanks all, will get browsing and hope she doesn't turn her nose up at one of them. She just asked if she could wear her harry potter top so I feel I am up against it!

Yes to Monsoon. Also these dresses at John Lewis, or even Laura Ashley?

TheresABluebirdOnMyShoulder · 05/03/2017 22:49

Would she be more comfortable in trousers? I hated dresses when I was younger too. There are some lovely patterned ones or maybe some slightly cropped trousers with a smart blouse or top. Try ASOS, they've got loads of really trendy, young styles.

Quiz?? They do Playsuits that she may find more acceptable. The have shops but also concessions usually in Debenhams

New look maybe? I know they have a teen range. But if she's not into dresses I'd second smart trousers and top.

How tall is she & what size does she wear, Kids or ladies?

NewPantsforaNewYear · 06/03/2017 12:15

Would she wear something like this play suit from Zara?

JustDanceAddict · 06/03/2017 18:54

Playsuits are great for this.

Have a look at Yumi www.yumi.co.uk/women/dresses/.
They have a girls' range, but by your DD's age my DD was wearing dresses from the ladies range. They do some high necklines, various sleeve lengths, skater dresses, tunics which could go over leggings, a variety of print from demure to whacky (like the flamingo one). Obviously some of the designs are too grown up, but they have a good range of more teen friendly styles.
