What would you feed a party of 13YO girls?

Having my DD's birthday party (12 girls) and a mass sleepover this weekend.

Help me decide what to feed them!

DD says margarita pizzas for everyone will be fine. (Mum don't fuss!)

I want to fill them up with food they enjoy, but not end up over catering...help!?

Also stumped for good breakfast ideas.

Pizza. Ds1 says best are delivery, dominos, I think, a variety of pepperoni, margarita, vegetarian, chicken.

SofiaAmes · 28/02/2017 18:13

Pizza + salad is fine. I have served home made, build them yourself, tacos which the girls love and which have become legendary. I have also served home made asian style chicken drumsticks which went over well. However, cooking myself is a lot of work. Pizza + salad is just fine.

Ice cream sundaes sound like a great idea!

My DD keeps reminding me not to fuss too much, but I do think I will provide some chopped veg stick & dip (even if it's just for me to nibble on while cowering in the cornerGrin)

We had an unexpected tsumami of 16 year old girls including a vegan the other day.

We now have some vegan pesto.Smile

I've been mass catering sleep overs for years.

Pizza is fine. More than fine.

For breakfast I do croissants, pains au chocolate, fruit (strawberries, grapes, melon etc). Lots of juice.

motherinferior · 28/02/2017 18:23

Do they eat the fruit? Genuine interest. I may have underestimated my lot.

Bluntness100 · 28/02/2017 18:39

I'd also agree ordering the pizza and garlic bread in, they usually prefer it, and just buy a ton of sharing bags of chocolate ..things like m&ms, giant buttons, all that crap and loads of Pringles then you're good to go.

It's not like a kids party, just throw them the food and leave them to it whilst you sit in another room and check on them occassionally,

motherinferior · 28/02/2017 18:45

Oh god yes, remove yourself. Pour yourself a glass of something nice and turn a deaf ear to the shrieks.

GetAHaircutCarl · 28/02/2017 20:27

mother yes, especially strawberries!!!

Lf803 · 28/02/2017 20:31

Pizza and wedges
Crisps and snacks
Pancakes for breakfast! Always happy x

GetAHaircutCarl · 28/02/2017 20:40

Should say that now their mates are 17/18/19 hangovers are a feature of Sunday mornings and I throw sausage and bacon rolls at them.

Some still just eat the strawberries thoughGrin.

Theimpossiblegirl · 28/02/2017 20:49

DDs friends will eat cucumber and carrot sticks with dips alongside pizza, nuggets, crisps, popcorn and cakes/biscuits.

Pancakes for breakfast is a lovely idea, with maybe a fruit platter and some pastries and smoothies. Have lots of Nutella.

Lots of fizzy rubbish to drink and be glad they're not asking for cider yet. :)

GetAHaircutCarl · 28/02/2017 20:51

Oh yes I forgot popcorn.
If they're watching movies you will need boxes of that microwave stuff.

JustDanceAddict · 28/02/2017 21:15

Pizza!!

crazymissdaisy · 28/02/2017 21:29

I agree with the ice cream sundae suggestions, or a really simple choc fondue (ie basin of melted choc) with fruit / marshmallow skewers? they like making things themselves at that age, at least nominally eg pain au choc you cut and cook from frozen, cookies you slice from a snake of dough and cook yourself. My 10 year old made mocktails at her sleepover (I decided it would be cheaper than making/ buying smoothies). I bought those plastic cocktail glasses, umbrellas, and a variety of fruit juices and fizzy drinks with fruit to decorate.

highlandholiday · 28/02/2017 21:30

You have to have croissants for breakfast at sleepovers. That's the law.

clary · 28/02/2017 21:32

Grin at salad. Only get that if you want to eat it later.

Like others say, pizza is good. Chips. Pringles. Doritos. Bowls of haribos and skittles Reese's peanut butter cups.

Breakfast - pains au choc and toast with nutella.

clary · 28/02/2017 21:34

hahaha MI - just seen it's you saying don't bother with salad or fruit! I think our teenagers may be related xx

motherinferior · 28/02/2017 21:39
Grin
outabout · 28/02/2017 21:42

I'm with your DD, Mum don't fuss!
Frozen pizzas so you can 'overbuy' just in case.
Carrot/Cucumber and some dips. Crisps/nibbles.
The 'make them themselves' sundaes (occupies time and great fun).
Jelly, ice cream, squirty cream, sprinkles, some fruit salad or chopped fruit.
Croissant for breakfast sounds good.
I'm getting hungry now!

At Christmas 6 teenage girls arrived at 10am and ate their way a huge box of Thornton chocolates, 3 large Tesco pizzas, a bag of chicken nuggets, a box of cocktail size sausage rolls, 2 bags of Dorritos & dip, cheesy snack mix and a big bag of Tyrells popcorn in 6 hours. I strongly recommend paper cups & plates. I don't think they had had anything to eat over Christmas!
